See the transcript here:

Hey everyone, my name is Stephanie Rollins, I am the founder and creator of FoodForHealthyHair.com. I’m so glad to be here this evening with you guys, I actually meant to pop in last night just to say hello to everyone. I know we’ve got quite a few new pages likes, so I did want to say hello but I forgot so I’m here tonight, I did do an Instagram LIVE last night as well, on this specific topic so I just wanted to pop into tonight to do that same topic here on Facebook.

So, what I want to talk to you about today are three things that your hair needs from you in order to start growing today. So you might not realize it, but sometimes we do things that might actually kind of stunt our hair growth or kind of like keep it like stagnant and we don’t really do things to kind of like help it flourish and grow. So I want to talk about three things that you can start doing today to kind of change that up.

So the first thing is to incorporate better sources of protein into your diet. A lot of people will say “hey if you want protein eat lean chicken or eat this meat or eat this or that or whatever.” Whatever your diet style is, you do what you do and that’s great but the best sources of protein comes in the form of plants.

Things like chickpeas, lentils, peas, broccoli, spinach, hemp hearts, things like that are going to give you like really, really, really, high protein sources, so you want to make sure that you are incorporating the best ingredients into your diet because you don’t want your protein coming from a third party source.

I eat meats a lot of times, so I mean this is a good source of protein but it’s not like the best source of protein and a lot of our needs are getting their protein from plants, so you want to make sure that you’re actually incorporating those things into your diet instead of watered down protein sources. Again, chickpeas, regular peas, lentils, broccoli, spinach, things like that have tons of protein in it.

The second thing you want to do is make sure that you keep a healthy scalp and the reason being is because you don’t want to have your scalp like too dry or clogged up with oil and build up and stuff like that. You want to make sure your scalp can breathe and that it’s able to actually allow blood to circulate.

You want to make sure that you keeping it clean and healthy. So whenever you are washing your hair too little or not so often, you are going to be getting all this build-up in your scalp and you don’t want that. It’s going to clog your pores, and it’s not really that clean, your hair can’t breathe, your scalp can’t breathe when you’re doing that, so you want to make sure that you are washing according to your hair type.

So as you can tell I’ve got naturally curly hair my hair is really thick I probably wash my hair about once a month with shampoo, I do different cleansing routine but I only do that once a week and that’s really just like apple-cider-vinegar and tea tree oil and kind of just like massage it in and it feels really good on my scalp.

It’s tingly and I know that it’s getting that blood circulated, so that’s what I do. If you have finer hair you probably want to wash your hair every three to four days or so just depends on how often your scalp is getting oily. So if you know like your root gets oily really easily, you might want to try some different alternatives like maybe a dry shampoo and definitely a sulfate free shampoo or even conditioner washing. That might work for you if you try it and again the apple cider vinegar inside works really well. It’s really good for adding more shine to your hair, so I would definitely try that as well.

So the third thing that you definitely want to have to make your hair start growing today immediately is a consistent routine. So what I mean by that is you don’t want to deep condition your hair one week and then forget to do it for another two or three weeks. We do that our; lives are busy, right, but it’s really important to make sure that you are keeping up with your routine.

For example, with deep conditioning your hair, it is drying out throughout the week, so at the end of the week when it’s time for you to do your deep conditioning routine, you want to make sure that you are replenishing that moisture into your hair.

What’s the point of conditioning if it’s just going to continue to be dry. We want to do that every week so that your hair knows to expect it and your hair is actually reacting to the deep conditioner in a way that’s beneficial to its growth.

So, the same with protein treatments. If you know your hair breaks easily,  you definitely want to make sure you’re doing your protein treatments every month. Same with hot oil treatments or hair masks or whatever you’re doing for your hair, you definitely want to make sure you keep it consistent routine to restore or replenish any minerals that you’ve lost throughout the day.

You want your hair to be strong, you want it to be moisturized, your hair cannot grow without being strong and without being moisturized and hydrated, so you definitely want to make sure that you are staying on top of those things.

So I just want to quickly recap because I just want to pop in and do this really quick Facebook Live.

Again my name is Stephanie Rollins, I’m the founder and creator of FoodforHealthyHair.com and I’m bringing you three things that you can start doing today to make your hair grow.

First things first, you want to start incorporating better sources of protein, second thing you want to make sure that you are keeping a healthy scalp because your hair cannot grow without a healthy scalp and then the third thing is you want make sure that you’re having a consistent hair routine.

If you deep condition every week, make sure you staying on your weekly schedule and you’re not falling off. If you do fall off, you need to hop back on ASAP because you don’t want your breaking off you.

You don’t want your hair getting used to being dry and brittle, you just want to make sure that it’s hydrated, it’s moisturized, it’s strengthened, whatever it is that your product does. That way you can go on about your week having flawless hair.
